Curriculum Vitae

I was born in 1978 in Stuttgart and grew up in a little swabian village, Bempflingen. By the end of the 80s we moved to Reutlingen, where I finished school in 1998.

During my first college years at HdM Stuttgart, I was focusing mainly on 3D computer graphics and animation. With time I became more interested in programming (especially web development) and systems administration, and have turned my back on the colorful moving pictures ever since. I watch them now and then at the cinema, though ...

Work Experience

Since June 2012: Systems administrator at the Zentrum für Datenverarbeitung (ZDV) of Tübingen University, department for Informations- und Verwaltungssysteme

May 2007 - May 2012: Systems administrator at the Center for Bioinformatics Tübingen (ZBIT) of Tübingen University

  • Administration of web servers (mainly Apache)
  • Web service development & administration (Zope, SOAP)
  • XFS storage administration (currently about 50 TB)

Projects and Freelance Jobs

Besides my work experience as employee, I also have some educational and freelance project experience, as for example:

  • Since 2010, I am occasionally working for Nemec Automation in the fields of web development and systems administration.
  • I am co-author of the book Kompendium Medieninformatik. Mediennetze, published in 2006 by Springer.
  • In 2004/2005, I was working on an academic portal for the Informatics Department at Reutlingen University. The portal is based on Typo3 and has to integrate information from various sources.
  • In 2002, I was working on an educational project developing a courseware system in cooperation with the pathological department of the Lübeck University. The courseware CardioSys was nominated Top 20 at the Multimedia Transfer Award of Karlsruhe University in 2003.

Education

School and college education:

  • 2004-2006: Hochschule Reutlingen, Degree: M.Sc. in Informatics
    Master's Thesis in German: Domain-driven and model-based software development with Naked Objects and MDA. The thesis is covering the topics UML, MDA, OOP, AndoMDA, Java, and Maven. It won the "AUF" award of the association of alumni & friends of the university as best thesis of the term.
  • 1999-2003: Hochschule der Medien (HdM) Stuttgart, Degree: Dipl.-Ing. (FH) in Media Technology
    Diploma Thesis in German: Automated Lip Sync in 3D Computer Animation. The thesis is covering speech recognition with HMMs and Neural Networks and MEL Scripting for Maya 3D.
